The General Directorate of Forestry (GDF) and UNDP has been working together for the sustainable management of forests in Turkey for many years. Under this partnership, both organizations decided to design a project to remove the gaps in sustainable forest management in Turkey through developing new approaches and tools in biodiversity conservation, climate change mitigation and other related issues. Overall, this was call for an integrated approach in forest management. The designed project has been supported by the Global Environmental Fund and the GEF; it was put into operation in 2013. As of 2019, the Project has come to its final stage and most of the results were achieved. This presentation introduces the main results of the project and potential for replication as well as knowledge sharing among Mediterranean countries.
