Résumé
A Model Forest is both a large area where the forest represents an important stake, and a collaborative approach for sustainable management of forested landscapes and natural resources. The Model Forest approach is primarily a partnership-based process for sustainable development, which can be defined as « a collaborative process through which individuals and groups, representing a diversity of values, work together towards a common vision of sustainable development for a landscape in which forests are an important feature ». This article traces the steps of the creation of the Model Forest River Mirna Basin in the region of Istria in Croatia.
